The beautiful city of Tropea, in the Calabria region, is an excellent summer destination in Italy. Tropea is known for its beaches, the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, its historic center, and the “IGP red onion” (cipolla rossa di Tropea). Tropea is located on the Costa degli Dei (Coast of the Gods), which is famous throughout Italy for the beauty of its beaches and the color of the sea. In addition to Tropea, you can visit and stay in Capo Vaticano, Parghelia, Zambrone, Pizzo, and Vibo Valentia. A few kilometers from Tropea, in the mountains, you can visit the town of Spilinga, famous for ‘nduja calabrese, a typical and particularly spicy Calabrian cured meat. You can also visit the village of Zungri and its rock dwellings.
