Alta Norway

Alta is a town and municipality situated in the province of Finnmark, Norway. The municipality gets its name from the high fjord where the high river flows, Finnmarksvidda. The Altaelva river has carved one of the largest canyons in Europe on its journey from the plateau to the fjord. The majority of the population resides in the city of Alta, which stretches along the shores of the inner part of the fjord. The city has a warm and inviting atmosphere, and the lower areas of the city are shielded from winter storms. The consistently clear skies overhead were a factor in the city being chosen as an ideal location for studying the Northern Lights. As a result, the city's tourism primarily revolves around the breathtaking views and natural wonders it has to offer.
